Wow, what a weekend! Grandma Deno turned 90 years old this past week. What a blessing and accomplishment to reach 90. Friday afternoon we went over to her house and got to visit with old cousins and family members we hadn't seen in a long time. Of course Grandma insisted on cooking for everyone, even though it was her weekend. Then saturday we celebrated her birthday at the church and had catered food and a yummy cake! It was so sweet to be celebrating her and all she has gone through in her lifetime. Uncle Ron made a really cute slideshow about her life, and of course I got all emotional watching it. She even stood up to thank everyone for coming and gave a little speech about running a race to heaven. She said she was coming close to the finish line but wasn't there yet, and when she finished she knew she was going to see Jesus. It was beautiful. She sat down, and then stood back up after she had spoke to tell us, 90 was old! But she said "Im old but not as old as my sister." (Gertie who is 92.) It was funny. I am so thankful for her and blessed that Im her granddaughter. Today everyone went to church with her and then again spent lunch with her at her house. My mom wasnt there, but sent her a beautiful flower arrangement, and my sister was missing this time. Im sure we will be having another birthday party for her when she turns 100.
